Difficult year but pretty good predictions

I missed:

  • Director (Sean Penn) Jason Reitman - Juno
  • Actor (Emile Hirsch) Tommy Lee Jones - In the Valley of Elah
  • Actress (Angelina Jolie) Laura Linney - The Savages
  • Adapted Screenplay (Into the Wild) - Away From Her
  • Animated Feature (The Simpsons Movie) Surf's Up
  • Documentary Feature (Autism: The Musical, Body of War, Lake of Fire) Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience, Taxi to the Dark Side, War/Dance
  • Foreign Language Film (The Unknown - Italy, The Year My Parents Wen on Vacation - Brazil) Katyn (Poland), Mongol (Kazakhstan)
  • Art Direction (Elizabeth: The Golden Age) American Gangster
  • Costume Design (The Assassination of Jesse James, Hairspray) Across the Universe, La Vie En Rose
  • Editing (Michael Clayton) The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
  • Makeup (The Diving Bell and Butterfly, Sweeney Todd) Norbit, Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Sound Mixing (Into the Wild, There Will Be Blood) Ratatouille, 3:10 to Yuma
  • Sound Editing (Beowulf, Pirates of the Caribbean, 300) The Bourne Ultimatum, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood
  • Original Score (Lust, Caution, Assassination of Jesse James, There Will Be Blood) 3:10 to Yuma, The Kite Runner, Michael Clayton
  • Original Song (American Gangster, Hairspray, Into the Wild) Happy Working Song & So Close (Enchanted), Raise it Up (August Rush)
The Big Six: 27/30
The Big Eight: 36/40
The Whole Lot: 72/99

I thought this year was hard to predict but the "big" categories went ok. The rest was hard and the results were not so good. This year Foreign Film and Documentary were impossible to predict and Score and Song have been like that for years.

Edit: Actually it was not a bad year at all: Apparently I was one of the lucky winners in the Awardsdaily prediction contest.
